THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
The Executive Committee members are elected from amongst the Council members. The only condition for election is that the candidate has been a Council member for two years. It is, however, necessary that EC members are fluent in either English or French and have a working knowledge of the other, as these are the languages used during business meetings. The EC divides the necessary workload according to the skills and experience of its members. If necessary they can co-opt someone to help with a particular function.
Once someone is elected as an EC member they act on behalf of OIDFA and not their own country. For this reason they can co-opt another member to act on their behalf in their own country.
The Executive Committee has three meetings each year. They meet in the spring and autumn and also during Congresses and during the Council meetings held between Congresses. Many of the decisions taken at these meetings are ordinary business decisions. These are reported to the members in the quarterly Bulletin. Some however are more important and these need the approval of the Council and General Assembly.
