HOW DOES OIDFA WORK?

OIDFA is managed by an Administrative Council which consists of Council members, elected for a two-year period, and elegible to stand for a total of three such periods, and an Executive Committee, elected from the Council members, which is responsible for the day to day running of the organisation.

OIDFA encourages and co-ordinates the study and the practice of all types of bobbin and needle lace, both modern and traditional, and stimulates contacts between lacemakers throughout the world.

OIDFA organises an international Congress every two years in one of the member countries. Each Congress features an exhibition of lace from different countries as well as the lace of the host country.
Lectures, demonstrations, and meetings take place during the Congress weekend.
There is also a General Assembly and election of officers.
Before the Congress, there is an opportunity to take part in one of the lace courses.
After the Congress a lace tour of special interest is organised.

OIDFA has set up work groups to study and prepare material on topics of interest including:

How do members find out about these activities?
Four times a year a beautiful Magazine is published with patterns and articles submitted by members and lace experts. All the material in the magazine is written in both French and English, the official languages of the organisation. Translations in local languages are also available in some countries.
