Tutor: Simona Strgulc Krajšek, Lace teacher, Ljubljana, Slovenia

As Nova Gorica is also known as ‘The City of Roses’, we selected a lace with a rose motif, from the catalogue of the company DOZ which operated in Ljubljana from 1919 to 1946, and redesigned it into a bookmark pattern. The lace is made in narrow tape, tape with inside pins, leaves (tallies) and two different fillings.

Participants will receive the pattern and technical drawings in the international colour code system. The workshop is suitable for skilled lacemakers.
Participants will need 14 pairs of bobbins, and cotton thread number 40 in a light colour.

Price per person:
280 € for minimum 8 participants
240 € for 9 or 10 participants
200 € for 11 or 12 participants

Price will include course fees with patterns and colour code drawings, where available, and lunches. Courses will be provided in English and, if necessary, also in French.

Location: All on-site workshops will take place in classrooms at the Student Dormitory Nova Gorica, address: Streliška pot 7, Nova Gorica, Slovenia. It is a 10 minute walk to the city centre and a 13 minute walk to the Congress venue.

Dates and timetable:

Monday, 31 July – Wednesday, 2 August, 10.00 – 13.00 and 14.30 – 17.00 AND Thursday, 3 August, 10.00 – 13.30.

Requirements for the Bobbin lace courses: Participants need their own lacemaking equipment: a roller pillow 35 cm, basket, bobbins, pins, crochet hook, and scissors. A roller pillow and basket may be borrowed at the course free of charge. Lacemaking equipment and thread can also be purchased at the course. A flat pillow may be used, but we highly recommend a roller pillow, because the experience of making Slovene Lace on the flat pillow is not the same.
