The Experimental Lace Group from the Idrija Lace School has been creating since 2015. The group consists of eight to ten top lacemakers with an abundance of knowledge on the many elements and techniques of Idrija lace. Their knowledge is based on tradition which is, from an idea to lace, creatively upgraded by design and use of various materials.
The lecture will provide an insight into the planning and work of the group as well as the experiences and the result – modern Idrija lace.
Designing, drawing lace patterns and making lace by various individuals or by group work is guided by art teacher Silva Menard, bobbin lace teacher Stana Frelih and pattern designer Maja Svetlik, who also organizes and leads the group.
The lecture will take place at Telovadnica, address: Rejčeva ulica 1b, Nova Gorica, Slovenia. The multipurpose centre is in the very centre of the city. The lecture will last 30 minutes followed by a 10 minute question and answer period.
